オクラホマ州下院に反科学州法案HB1674-2013が州下院本会議を通過

2013年にオクラホマ州下院に提案され、審議期限切れで廃案になった反進化論州法案HB1674が、再度審議日程に載り、2014年2月18日に案文が修正された。提案時点では....
The Oklahoma Legislature finds that an important purpose of science education is to inform students about scientific evidence and to help students develop critical thinking skills they need in order to become intelligent, productive, and scientifically informed citizens. The Legislature further finds that the teaching of some scientific concepts including but not limited to premises in the areas of biology, chemistry, meteorology, bioethics and physics can cause controversy, and that some teachers may be unsure of the expectations concerning how they should present information on some subjects such as, but not limited to, biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, global warming, and human cloning.

オクラホマ州議会議員は理科教育の目的は、生徒たちに科学的証拠についての情報を与え、知的で生産的で科学的に情報を与えられた市民となるために必要な批判的思考スキルを生徒たちが身につけるのを助けることであるとわかった。さらに、オクラホマ州議会議員は、生物学や化学や気象学や生命倫理や物理学の分野の命題を含むが、これらに限らず科学概念の教育が論争を引き起こし、生物進化や生命の化学起源や地球温暖化やヒトクローンを含むがこれらに限らず、いくつかの単元についての情報提示をいかにすべきか確信を持っていない教師がいることを知った。

という形で、「生物進化や生命の化学起源や地球温暖化やヒトクローン」という、いつもの例を挙げていたが、HB1674 Amendment]では削除された。

この修正で明示的な反進化論州法案から、もわっとした反科学州法案になったせいなのか、米国の進化論教育及び気象教育を守るNCSEによれば、オクラホマ州下院本会議を通過した。
Oklahoma's House Bill 1674, which would, if enacted, deprive administrators of the ability to prevent teachers from miseducating students about "scientific controversies," passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on a 79-6 vote on March 3, 2014. 

HB 1674 would, if enacted, require state and local educational authorities to "assist teachers to find more effective ways to present the science curriculum where it addresses scientific controversies" and permit teachers to "help students understand, analyze, critique, and review in an objective manner the scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses of existing scientific theories pertinent to the course being taught," prohibiting administrators from interfering.

成立すれば「科学的論争」について教師が生徒に誤ったことを教えるのを、教育当局が阻止できなくなるオクラホマ州HB1674が州下院を79-6で、2014/03/03に通過した。

この後、HB1674は州上院教育委員会に送られる。審議期限の2014年4月24日までに可決されない場合は廃案となる。州上院は同様の進化論や温暖化を明示しない反科学州法案を放置モードで期限切れ廃案にしている。州上院が、このHB1674を審議日程に載せるかどうかはわからない。

ただし、共和党72名・民主党29名の州下院を79-6の圧倒的多数で通過しているので、共和党36名・民主党12名の州上院議員たちが方向を変えることもあるかもしれない。
