ベトナム伝統医療を根拠にレイプ犯が釈放されたという報道が先月(2010/05)あった。

La Ngoc Tinh said the case was reopened at the request of Vietnam President Nguyen Minh Triet, after traditional medicine specialists said the men could not be rapists because they had never had sex.

鍼灸師が童貞だと判定したことで、レイプの罪で10年近くを監獄で過ごした3人の男たちが釈放されたと、警察当局者が述べた。事件の再調査は、ベトナム大統領Nguyen Minh Trietの要請によるものである。

Pham Thi Hong, an acupuncturist at the national traditional medicine hospital, said prison officials had sent one of the men to her for treatment in 2006.

She said examination of a pressure point beneath the convict's ear showed a small capillary was unbroken, which Vietnamese traditional medicine holds to mean that he was a virgin. Hong then examined the other two men.

"I recognised these three men had never had sex with women," Hong said.

Hong and other hospital officials wrote letters to President Triet and other officials.

そして、Hong鍼灸師は病院当局者とともに、Triet大統領と政府関係者に手紙を書いた。

疑似科学でレイプ犯を釈放したという怪しいネタだが、そもそも有罪判決が疑わしいものだったらしい。

However, the People’s Supreme Procuracy said police and the court in Ha Tay failed to to take the men's alibis into consideration.

Many people had seen the men, aged 19-20 when they were arrested, at a birthday party during the time the crime took place, according to the procuracy.

人民最高検察はHa Tay警察および裁判所は、3人の男たちのアリバイを考慮しなかったと述べた。多くの人々が、逮捕当時19〜20歳だった男たちを、犯罪が起きた時に、誕生パーティーに参加しているのを目的していた。

A T-shirt left behind by one of the culprits and then picked up by the victim, the only piece of evidence, was different from the one described in police’s documents, they said.

被告の一人が残して、被害者が拾ったTシャツが唯一の証拠だったが、それは警察の文書に書かれたものとは違っていた。

The defendants' confession was in conflict to the victims’ testimonies, Le Huu The, deputy chief of the People’s Supreme Procuracy, said in an interview with VnExpress.
