Harold Campingは10月21日に予言の日を先送りした

FamilyRadioのHarold Camping(89歳)は聖書の数字で世界の終末を予言した。その日は5月21日。5月21日に向けて、次第に盛り上がって行き、そして、そのときを迎えた。

予言がはずれると、聖書を学べたことは良かったと正当化する信者や、本当のラプチャーは10月21日だという信者などが現れた。しかし、5月22日はHarold Campingは沈黙していた。

そして、5月23日夜、Harold Campingは、審判の日はスピリチュアルに5月21日に始まり、ラプチャーと世界の破壊は10月21日に起きると発言して、予言の日付を事実上5か月だけ先延ばしにした。

まったく日付は変わっていない。我々はこれについて少しばかりスピリチュアルである必要があることを学んだ。しかし、10月21日に世界は破壊される。5か月の破壊ではなく、破壊は瞬時にやってくる。

5月21日、先週末、まさしくスピリチュアルな面がやってきた。神は世界に再び審判をもたらした。我々には違いを見ることができなかったが、神は世界に審判の日をもたらした。世界全体が審判の日にある。それは2011年10月21日まで続く。そして、そのとき全世界が破壊される。

聖書は非常にスピリチュアルな書物である。きわめて事実なことも多くある。もちろん非常に事実なことも。しかし、非常にスピリチュアルなものも多い。スピリチュアルな理解で見るべきか、事実としての理解で見るべきか、どちらであるか知る方法を、知ることは難しい。

5か月かけて予言破綻後の対策を考えるつもりなのか、あるいは寿命が尽きるのを待っているかは定かではない。

いずれにせよ「先送り」という方法をHarold Campingが選択したことで、「信者たちは、予言が破綻することで信者は信念をむしろ強める」という過去の事例に従う行動をとるこかどうかの観察も先送りになった。ただし、「先送り」した場合の「信者離脱」や「信念強化」については観察可能である。
