"Christian Science"(クリスチャン・サイエンス)は1879年、メリー・ベーカー・エディ（1812年〜1910年）によってアメリカマサチューセッツ州ボストン市に創設されたキリスト教系の新宗教である[wiki:クリスチャン・サイエンス]。その教義の根幹は、Christian Science Endtime Centerにある「An Introduction to Christian Science」によれば：
Christian Science is a religion of reason and revelation. In harmony with the Bible, it teaches that God is the only creator, and that all that He created is good. If this is true, it follows that sickness and evil, which are not good, can be no part of His creation. Mary Baker Eddy tells us:
クリスチャンサイエンスは道理と天啓による宗教である。聖書と調和して、神は唯一の創造者であり、神が創造したものはすべてよきものであると教える。これが真なら、病気や悪は、よきものではないので、神の創造物の一部をなしえない。Mary Baker Eddyは次のように言っている：Jesus demonstrated the power of Christian Science to heal mortal minds and bodies. But this power was lost sight of, and must again be spiritually discerned, taught, and demonstrated according to Christ's command, with 'signs following.' Its Science must be apprehended by as many as believe on Christ and spiritually understand Truth.
イエスは、死すべき心と体を癒すクリスチャンサイエンスの力を示した。しかし、この力は見失われてしまったので、キリストの命に従って、御印とともに、再びスピリチュアルに理解され、教えられ、行動で示されなければならない。その科学は、キリストへの信仰と同じくらい直感的に理解され、スピリチュアルに真理を理解されなければならない。
わかりやすい表現だと、wiki:クリスチャン・サイエンスが適切で：
病気とは、この真理、生命、愛についての誤った感覚、すなわち物質的感覚と精神的妄想から生じた結果であり、病気は実在しないとする。また死を認めず、エディ夫人は現在も（姿は見えないが）生きているとされている。のようになる。この主張は聖書を論拠として、導き出されている。
このため、霊的な癒し（スピリチュアル・ヒーリング）が活動の中心であり、一般に患者のそばで祈ることによって病を癒すものの、いわゆる遠隔操作による癒しも行う。その一方で予防注射や手術など医学的な処置を拒否し、病理学や薬学について受験することも拒んでいる。
しかし、一方で、Christian Scienceは創世記を字義通りに解釈するわけではない。というより字義通りの解釈に反対していて、進化論も否定しない。同じくChristian Science Endtime Centerにある「An Introduction to Christian Science: Christian Science Versus Evolution and Creationism」によれば：
God's Creation Spiritual, Not Materialちょっとわかりにくいかもしれないが、Christian Scienceの立場は「物質的には進化論はあり」であるが「スピリットは別」というもの。有神論的進化論をとりつつ魂の創造者は神であるというバチカンの考え方と、似たような立場にあると言える。
神による創造はスピリチュアルなものであって、物質的なものではない
In the first chapter of Genesis, God, Spirit, created man in His own image and likeness. However, the second chapter of Genesis presents a contrary view, an allegory where the Lord God (Jehovah) formed Adam from dust, matter. Based on a literal interpretation of this allegory, creationism teaches that God created man materially, but Jesus said, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh [material]; and that which is born of the Spirit [God] is spirit [spiritual]" (John 3:6). Paul said, "...the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other ..." (Galations 5:17). Though Jesus and Paul clearly taught that Spirit and flesh are contrary, creationism holds to an opposite view and attributes the creation of matter to Spirit.
創世記第1章では、神たるスピリットは、自らの姿に似せて人間を創造した。しかし、創世記第2章では、神たるエホバはアダムを塵、すなわち物質から形成したという寓話で、真逆の見解を示す。この寓話の字義通りの解釈に基づいて、創造論は神は人間を物質的に創造したと教える。しかし、イエスは「肉から生まれたものは肉[物質]である。霊[神]から生まれたものは霊[スピリチュアル]である」といった(ヨハネによる福音書第3章6節)。パウロは「肉の望むところは、霊に反し、霊の望むところは、肉に反するからです。肉と霊とが対立し合っている」と言った(ガラテア人への手紙第5章17節)。 明らかにイエスとパウロはスピリットと肉が対立するものだと教えているのに、創造論は真逆の見解に固執し、物質の創造をスピリットのものであると考える。
Evolution is based on the belief that matter, not Spirit, is real substance; that nothing can evolve into something; that non-intelligence can become intelligent. Evolution may describe the illusion of material existence, but it does not explain the real, spiritual creation, which can only be understood through revelation.
進化論はスピリットではなく物質が真の存在であり、無から何かへの進化し、非知性から知性が進化するという確信に基づく。進化論は物質的存在の幻想について記述するかもしれないが、天啓を通してしか理解できない真のスピリチュアルな創造を説明しない。
実際、Christian Scienceの全米紙The Christian Science Monitorの2005年2月23日付けの記事「Patrick Chisholm: Wrong-way evolution of the creationist movement」には、次のような記述がある：
明らかに、創造論やインテリジェントデザインとは反対の立場で執筆されている。
Evolution is a fact. Because it involves time periods spanning hundreds or thousands of generations, evolutionary change happens much too slowly for humans to perceive.
進化は事実である。進化は数百あるいは数千世代にわたって進むので、進化は人間がその変化を認識するにはあまりにゆっくりと進む。
And in some cases, natural selection happens plenty quickly enough for us to perceive. Through mutations, new strains of antidote-resistant viruses are always emerging.
幾つかの場合は、自然淘汰は我々が気がつくに十分速く起きる。突然変異により、耐性ウイルスの新しい種は、常に出現する。

So evolution is happening right before our very eyes. Evolution is as elementary as the earth as round; for someone to try to convince me otherwise is like someone trying to convince me that the earth is flat.

世俗的な感覚からは、Christian Scienceはファンダメンタリストと見なせるかもしれない。ただ、"ファンダメンタリスト"と分類しても、実態は様々であり、あまり意味のあることではない。同じく、ファンダメンタリストと見なせる"若い地球の創造論・創造科学"とは立場が真逆である。
