米国人の過半数が創造論も公立学校で教えた方が良いと答えている。ただし、2005年7月と比べると、2006年7月は少しバランスが進化論よりに変化している。
この変化について、Angus-Reidは論評していない。
ただし、インテリジェントデザインを公立学校の理科の授業で教えるのは政教分離原則に反するという2005年12月のDoverでの判決が影響している可能性はある。
気になるのは、"Intelligent Design"ではなく、もろに"Creationism"と質問していて、なおかつ58%が、進化論とともに教えられるべきと回答している点。
創造論支持者も含めて誰もが、インテリジェントデザインを創造論の偽装にすぎないとわかっていて、それを否定する気もない...と解釈すべきだろうか。
