地球温暖化への反感は、進化論ほどではない

米国の世論調査では、"若い地球の創造論"支持者（人類は現在の形態で1万年以内に創造された）が40〜48%くらいを推移している。この人々にとっては、10万年スケールの気候変動は当然ありえないはずだ。当然、過去50万年の寒冷化と温暖化および二酸化炭素その他の濃度変化の記録（南極のアイスコアとか）も、この人々にとっては事実ではあり得ない。

とすると、50%近い人々が温暖化などありえないと思っているかというと、そうでもないようだ。Pollingreport.Com: Environmentにまとめられた温暖化についての世論調査を見てみると...

1999年の調査結果もあるNBCの世論調査では、過去8年で、有意に"More Research"から"Immediate Action"へと意見が振れていることが示されている。

質問を分離して、「地球温暖化が事実 or 証明されていない理論」と「排出規制をすべきか否か」にすると、NBCの調査「More Research + Concern Unwarranted = 33% (2007/1/17-20)」と以下のCNNの調査「Theory tha has not yet been proven =38%」という違いが出ている。NBCの誤差3.1%とCNNの誤差4.5%なので、この差はゆらぎかも。

排出規制をすべきか否かについては、NBCの調査「Immeriate Action + Some Action = 64%」に対してCNNの調査「Should = 75%」となっている。NBCの調査は2つの質問を合体したことで、「More Research + Concern Unwarranted」という否定的答えを少なめにしたようだ。

で、この排出規制すべきか否かを問うたCNNの調査とおおよそ対応した数字を出しているのが、CBSによる「地球温暖化は重大な影響を及ぼす環境問題か」を問うた世論調査：

「重大な影響がある = 75%」と考えるから「排出規制すべき =70%」となって、ゆらぎの範囲内くらいの結果で一致している。


"気候変動の科学"というよりは、2005年8月のHurricane Katrinaの被害のような直近の印象に左右されているのかもしれない。これに関して、2006年8月11-15日に米国で行われたZogby International/National Wildlife Federation Surveyでは：

地球が温暖化していると回答した75%の人々は、直近の気象現象たる2005年カトリナや熱波などが温暖化によるものと回答している。

この回答を逆に解釈して、「直近の気象現象の印象によって地球が温暖化していると人々が考えている」とは言えない。が、少なくとも、直近の気象現象に地球温暖化を見ているようではある。

すなわち、旧約聖書に基づき「地球も宇宙も6000年」と考えていても(〜48%)、気候変動については創世記第8章21-22節の記述を持ち出して否定する人々は、以上の世論調査の「More Research + Concern Unwarranted」とか「Theory」と回答した全員だとしても40%以下だと思われる。創世記 / 8章 21-22節
主は宥めの香りをかいで、御心に言われた。「人に対して大地を呪うことは二度とすまい。人が心に思うことは、幼いときから悪いのだ。わたしは、この度したように生き物をことごとく打つことは、二度とすまい。 地の続くかぎり、種蒔きも刈り入れも／寒さも暑さも、夏も冬も／昼も夜も、やむことはない。なお、5つの質問を並べられると、いかにも温暖化っぽい「カトリナと少ない雪」と、関係なさそうに見える「旱魃と山火事」で比率に差異が出るのはもっともらしい。
