実問題化するエジプトの"だうじんぐマシン"

WHOのC型肝炎のページによれば、HCV(C型肝炎ウィルス)の感染率は世界全体で3%程度ある。Thomas(2013)によれば、エジプトを含む中東方面は、感染率の高い地域である。

C型肝炎ウィルス対策はエジプト政府及び軍が対処しなければならない長期的問題であり、解決できれば国民から信頼も高まるだろう。

しかし、エジプト軍の"だうじんぐマシン"は逆方向に事態を推移させるかもしれない。

軍の技術者のトップが奇跡と描写するAIDSや肝炎などのウィルスを検出し治療するというデバイスを公表したことで、エジプト軍首脳部は笑い者いなっている。その主張は専門家たちから否定され、大統領科学顧問から「科学者にとってショッキング」と評され、注意深く管理されてきた、国家の救世主という軍のイメージにダメージを与えている。

有名な著作家Hamdi Rizkは、軍は自ら馬鹿をやって、評判を地に落としているというツイートやブログ記事とともに、デバイス発表動画がソーシャルメディアで拡散されていると書いている。
