Intelligent Design and the Family

San Francisco's adoption campaign for older children is featuring "Intelligent Design", and they have this great "Heather Has Two Mommies" sort of poster. I wonder which of the DI crew will be tasked with having a hissy-fit on their blog.

サンフランシスコの養子キャンペーンが"インテリジェントデザイン"をフィーチャーし、かの有名な"Heather Has Two Mommies"のようなポスターを作った。さて、DIの誰が、ぶち切れた記事をブログにアップするだろうか。

Heather Has Two Mommiesは、1989年に出版された「人工授精によって子供をつくったJaneとその同姓のパートナーKate」について子供向けの本である。

そして、DIはもちろんインテリジェントデザインの本山たるReligious RightなDiscovery Instituteのこと。もちろん、進化論と並んで、ゲイも彼らの敵である[ie. John G WestとかWesley J. SmithとかGeorge GilderとかBruce Chapman]。
そしてポスターがこれ：

「インテリジェントデザイン」はもちろん反進化論ブランド「インテリジェントデザイン」のパロディ。そして、「Out family was no accident」も

のような反進化論の定型文のパロディになっている。

このポスターをつくったのはSF CHiLD PROJECT(Adoption SF)とFamily Buildersである。ここには「Gay & Lesbian Adoption -- A Family is A Family」なんてページもある。

これについてDiscovery Instituteの面々が言いそうなことを、Wesley R. Elsberryは次のように書いている：

If the IDC advocates were smart about this, they’d simply make a comment about how “ID has become a culturally pervasive term; look out, you Darwinists!”
もしインテリジェントデザイン支持者たちがスマートだったら、「インテリジェントデザインは一般なカルチャー用語になった。見てみろダーウィにストたち」とだけ書くだろう。

I expect that they won’t be able to leave it at that. So, let’s have a pool on possible responses:

(4) David DeWolf sues the SF campaign for mental anguish.
David DeWolfは精神的苦痛を受けたといってAdoption SFのキャンペーンを訴える。
