Sept. 20, 2007 (KABC-TV) - "Angels in the Dust" is a sometimes tough but very touching documentary. There's an urban myth in Africa that if you are infected with the AIDS virus, you can get rid of it by having sex with a virgin.

Hogarth believes the government is largely to blame for the AIDS crisis there. She says President Thabo Mbeki doesn't believe HIV causes AIDS.
"He's an AIDS denialist so he and his health minister are promoting a campaign of beet root, olive oil and garlic," said Hogarth. That's instead of anti-retroviral drugs.

この66万人のうち、"両親死亡かつ引き取り手なし"という"孤児"がどれだけかの数字は見当たらない。ただ、Marion Cloeteの孤児院で決着がつくような数ではありえないだろう。
また、映画で触れているレイプについても、1000人あたりの件数は統計値のある国地域の中では最大。
ただし、この数字が、都市伝説の効果なのかどうかは不明。
