Institute for Creation Researchの理科教育大学院は非認証確定

"若い地球の創造論"ミニストリInstitute for Creation Research(ICR)は以下のような経緯で、理科教育修士課程の認証を求めていた：

• "若い地球の創造論"ミニストリInstitute for Creation Research(ICR)は orgドメイン以外にeduドメインにもアドレス[http://www.icr.edu/]を持っていて、通信制大学院（理科教育修士課程）という事業を行っている。
  
• このICR大学院を認証したのは、宗教教育を対象とする認証機関Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schoolsである。従って、理科教育修士は非認証。
  
• このwikipedia:TRACCSの設立経緯があやしい
  
• ICR大学院を認証したとき、ICR所長のDr. Henry M. MorrisがTRACSの役員をしていた。つまり、自分で自分を認証した{Steve Levicoff]。
  
• 2007年12月時点で、ICR大学院はテキサス州に移転し、TRACSを離脱し、あらためて理科教育修士課程の認証を得ようとした[Dallas News,COPY]
  
• テキサス州ではTRACSによる認証を認めておらず、Texas Higher Education Coordinating BoardによってICRの申請は承認される必要がある[NCSE]。

これについて、2008年4月23日に、The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board(THECB)のAcademic Excellence and Research (AER) CommitteeがTHECBの全体委員会に対して、認証しないように推奨することを採決した：

Austin, April 23, 2008 – The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Academic Excellence and Research (AER) Committee today voted to recommend to the full Board that a proposal for a certificate of authority to offer a Master of Science degree in Science Education by the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) Graduate School not be approved. The Committee’s decision was based on a recommendation by Texas Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Raymund Paredes.

In his recommendation, Commissioner Paredes stressed that he was “not questioning the validity of religious belief as a means of comprehending the world and universe around us.” However, he further stated that “Religious belief is not science. Science and religious belief are surely reconcilable, but they are not the same thing.”

コミッショナーであるDr. Raymund Paredesは「我々の宇宙と世界の理解の手段としての宗教信条に疑問はない。しかし、宗教信条は科学ではない。科学と宗教信条は確かに調和可能だが、同じものではない」と述べた。
